Bronyland is a concatenation of Brony (as in an out-of-target-market-strangely-obsessed fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic) and Land, as in a place to be and what a whole bunch of countries used to fight over (and some still do).
Put simply, it’s a place for Bronies.
We consider the starting date of the site on September 17th, 2011, which is also the airdate of the first episode of Season 2.

Why would you make another Pony site?
Why not? Do you really think the internet has enough of them? We wanted to make it to help celebrate our common interest of ponies and to hopefully find new and creative ways to contribute to the Brony community.
Some of our inspiration comes from the pony mega-site, Equestria Daily, especially since none of us have much experience with blogging, but we’re also eager to incorporate our own touches to give Bronyland its own cutie mark and help it fit in.
You don’t have a lot of stuff up! Your site sucks!
Well, yeah. Rome wasn’t built in a day, either. At the time of writing this page, we’re about 10 days in, from the conceptual design to everything you see before you.
We’re planning on adding to our content daily, but most important was making sure the design is good enough to look pretty. And to get that super cool theme switcher thing going. Face it, you know you like to be able to choose your favorite pony to see greeting you every day. You know you like that.
I guess if that doesn’t satisfy you, let me just promise you that there are a lot of other clever pony ideas we’re planning on putting on the site, so it just might take some time to get it up there.
How can I contribute to the site?
You want to help out or do something? Awesome! Part of our long-term goal is to turn this into a community blog. We obviously need to enforce quality control and keep from posting too frequently, but as our traffic climbs, we hope to post something every hour or two, and that may be something you can help with.
What kind of stuff are we looking for?
- Links to popular MLP videos or music videos for our Videos section.
- Links to some cool or funny fanart. We are not hosting a gallery or anything, but rather just providing links and using thumbnails from said links to attract people to the original. (It’s about promoting artists!)
- Links to some fun fanfics that would make a good read. No clopfics (porn), but anything that’s reasonably acceptable is, well, acceptable.
I mean that’s relatively easy community stuff that I’m sure you can help with.
But if you’re looking to become a full-fledged contributor, here are some of the things we would really like to have.
- Well-written Episode Summaries with pictures and stuff. We’ll probably be putting up a bunch of stock pics, so you might not have to worry about that, but we mostly just need the horsepower of writers. This does not mean we want you copying stuff from a Wiki or something! That would be unclassy, bro!
- Well-written Character Profiles, including any minor characters and even background characters. We’d obviously love to have all of this available. We may not be a Wiki, but we want to have content, and this is some good content stuff.
- Art that you drew and want to let us use! If you’re a bucking awesome artist and want to see your stuff used on Bronyland rather than just linked to, hey, let us know, we’d love to include it. And if your art sucks or isn’t quite what we want on a banner, I’m sure we’ll be nice enough to find some little corner for it on the site, because everyone loves drawfriends.
- A good understanding of WordPress. You know, some of you might have already done this before. I’m not saying I’m giving you teh adminz, but knowledge of how this shindig works would obviously be a helpful thing. Even a knowledge of blogging in general is helpful.
You should focus on explaining how you’re going to be different from EqD and the MLP wiki.
Indeed, that’s a very good point! Ever since the creation of this little site, I’ve been trying to think of what it is that would set it apart from other pony sites out there. Where I feel our little niche can be is in interactivity. The Personality Test is fun for people to play around with, while there’s also a neat resource available of avatars for people to freely use — two things that aren’t on either of the big pony sites. Additionally, I think the “Broekaki” drawing board will be a lot of fun for all of the drawfriends out there! I mean, I haven’t been able to find a nice pony Oekaki on Google, so hey, why not make our own?
I’ll see if I can fit all of this into that blurb up there.

Absolutely.
Of the staff, Plumeria is the mare of the team, but as far as Bronylanders go, according to the aggregated Pony Personality Test results, 39.2% of the Bronies (or Pegasisters, if you’d rather; we used the term gender-neutral here) taking the test said they were female. That makes up a pretty darn large margin!
I am, of course some Bronies wouldn’t know this place, so that why we girls go on it for the fun of it!!

I hope I’m not a bother, but is this solely a Blog? I’ve spent the last few minutes searching for a forum. I hope I don’t sound like I’m pushing for a forum, as it is one of the most difficult things to handle since so many things can go wrong. Cyber bullying, spamming, and just other such nonsense. I guess my real question is if this will stay a blog or if a forum will be added in the future, or if there is already one.
P.S. Please excuse my ignorance if there isn’t a way to add a forum to a blog. I very little knowledge when it comes to creating websites, and I’m simply happy with this site as it is. Thank you for building it!
It’s a combination blog, Oekaki, and resource site. While forums are nice and all for some communities, they do require a lot of upkeep, and it’s just not something we’re looking to add as a part of our site. You do include several of the valid reasons why.
